Phoning it in
In which Ameya subs for Pallavi, our reel game is on point, and we show you some really heartbreaking stories shared on Instagram
Best beloveds!
You’re getting me ahead of schedule (and very last minute) because Pallavi and I are both aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasobusy!
So I apologise if this edition is not up to standard.
Last week was a great one for reels, with what is shaping up to be my own personal favourite of all time, and Pallavi’s super impactful one. We also put out this carousel, which got a lot of excellent responses. I called for a REVOLUTION because it’s high time FATSOS GOT SHORTS! Pallavi wrote a lovely blog post, just this Saturday, about how she just can’t hold the rage in anymore, which I am behind 100%. BRING OUT ALL THE RAGE!
But the most intense thing that happened last week was when I casually asked people to share horrible things that have been said to them as fatsos, so I could toss out snarky responses. Reader, I was a fool. The tsunami of pain and trauma that emerged just broke my heart. So many of us feel less than human, so many of us are told we are worthless by our parents because our bodies don’t match some ridiculous arbitrary standard? The outpouring only made me realise how important it is for us to talk about these experiences we have, because we need people to notice that it’s happening, but we also really need to know that we are not alone in these traumatic experiences, and we can come together and heal. If you’re up for it, they’re all in the highlights on our Instagram.
Here’s a hug for all us poor traumatised people. We can get to the other side.
Okay, back to the hundred things I have to get done in the next er… three hours…
love,
Ameya (& Pallavi)
