Best beloveds!
I hope you are all safe and well. And by well, I don’t just mean unaffected by Covid. It’s been a clusterfuck year and a bit, and however well we’ve all been doing, it’s gotta be taking a toll. It certainly took a toll on us, as we realised our lofty ambitions for social media were effectively impossible heh. So we took a break. And then we came back and discovered we needed to cut back even more! So, some changes have come chez Fat. So? Podcast.
For one, you’re getting this newsletter on Wednesdays now! While we’re sorry to remove the bright spot in your Mondays (:D) we think you’ll still appreciate it on hump day, and it does mean we’ll be able to give you better content. Let me begin by telling you our BIG NEWS!!!
I’m sure you’ve seen it on social media, but you know, just in case, WE ARE WRITING A BOOK!!!!! That’s right, Pallavi and I are writing a book about fatphobia in India and, while we haven’t found a publisher, we have found wonderful agents, over at A Suitable Agency. Yes you can all cheer and dance with us now :D
The book, as our dear agent describes it, is an "an eye-opening book that interrogates society's complicity in enabling fatphobia in India today." That’s right.
Of course we’ll keep y’all up to date on when it’s coming out etc. We would love to hear your stories of experiences of fat phobia, so please reply to this email and tell us if you have any! After all, we’re not the only ones who experience it :)
Other changes: we don’t post every day anymore, and we are putting the blog on hold for a while, at least until we get season 3 off the ground. But here’s Pallavi’s last post, about clothes!
In other news! We have discovered that myntra stocks stylish affordable plus sized clothes (we’ve only tried them for women…) and now both Pallavi and I (and several of our friends) are proud owners of this fabulous fit and flare dress from Awaari. I also bought this lovely hosiery material comfy dress and this flowy swirly printed one. And! These two lovelies from Revolution. I specially love that the straight dress is designed to make the tummy look like it’s meant to show, and the maxi is straight with slits.
This is Pallavi and me now, always with the new clothes and nowhere to take them :D
We’ve been putting out carousels lately, and we find that you love them because they talk about things we don’t usually say out loud? What do you think? Also I’m rather pleased with this reel, not just because it’s one more of my new dresses :D Pallavi meanwhile is rocking this one.
That’s all the news! Do tell us what you want more of in the newsletter. And, if you know a fat person with a valuable insight who would be willing to be interviewed in season 3, send them to us! You know where to find us.
love,
Ameya (& Pallavi)
PS: Happy Wednesday!
